HISTORY - Bhanchha Ghar

More than a decade ago, there were no Nepalese Speciality restaurant in Nepal for foreign guests. There were plenty of Chinese, continental, Indian and even Japanese cuisine but no Nepalese.

Then in 1989 AD, BHANCHHA GHAR was opened, which today is Synonymous with best of Nepalese cuisine with no precedence for an entirely Nepalese restaurant, THANCHHA GHAR did not rely on food alone, b y presenting a total experience. Even if the tastes are different, the cultural effect would be memorable and the experience would have high repeat value. BHANCHHA GHAR occupies there floors and accommodates about two hundred people.

The décor is in shades of black and white with dark wooden furniture, candles on each table, and carpeted Sit-down areas with cushions. The Top Floor is entirely Sit-down, with Tibet tent-type canopy and Mandala prints on the walls.

Top floor is for the drinks, snacks and the typical Nepalese cultural show for approx 45 minutes, then go downstairs for the dinner Apart from the usual, you can have “Raksi” (Traditional Nepalese Alcohal) in tiny earthen bowl, and the way it is served is a fascinating Cultural experience.
